Being Black
VS
The Black Community
Black Police Officers are more of a problem to the black community at large
than white officers are.
Blacks in the street are more openly hostile toward black officers than to their
white counter parts.
Is the problem based on misunderstanding or in some part careful manipulation.

In this and following articles we will attempt to answer those questions, and
perhaps provide some insight into the mind of the black police officer. A
commentator of a local community paper once said that the Black Police Officer
appears lost, and that he or she seems to have no sense of self. He further
went on to say that perhaps black officers at inner-city station houses were
conspiring to shortchange the community which they were assigned to serve.
Although statements like that serve only to widen the gulf that already exists we
need to investigate the validity of them.
